TOP OF THE WORLD, MA! It’s all about the Bradness!

June 10, 2014 // 0 Comments

Seriously.  I woke up to TWO great things this a.m.  First, check out this banner on AllRomanceEbooks: I think I was squeamish about putting up my hardcore erotica shorts on ARE for a while; but what a great spot for them – putting Sam I up for free has resulted in 500 downloads in the last five days, AND, in turn, that’s turned into 20, 13 and 8, respectively, sales of #’s 2, 3 and 4.  And, 15 sales of the whole bundle.  So by giving a story away for free, I’ve made $60 directly…and, the rising tide has lifted the boats of my other titles. The other great news was a fantastic review of “Apollo’s Curse” that got posted to the ‘zon by ScatteredThoughtsAndRogueWords.com.  Money quotes: “What a great concept for a story! The idea that a popular cover model, you know, the ones you see over and over again, is actually a Greek Muse, who with one night of supernatural sex, anoints an author to become the world’s most [MORE]

Omigod Jamie Dornan. That is all.

Here are the best two pics from the Interview photo shoot and, duh, interview.  Unbelievable quote: “I don’t like my physique. Who does? I was a skinny guy growing up, and I still feel like that same skinny kid.” No, dude. [MORE]

Man I tell you, it feels good to wake up and be #1 🙂  Admittedly “Sam” is free on ARE at this link, but yeah, after nearly two years in the biz, I’ve learned the power of FREE to drive sales. I’m going through each of the “Sam” stories and cleaning them up, copyediting some of the mad-dashing and removing my (formerly) trademark “elliptical style.”  Also, I had a few glaring errors I needed to fix (a scene at night in which sunlight comes down a shaft when the door is opened, oops!).  So by end of day today, #4 will also be up at ARE, and revised everywhere but Amazon. The companion story “Eddie’s MMA Submission” *might* make it up today.  I’ve got my boyfriend Novak Djokovic to watch in a minute, and you know, “Orange is the New Black” is out and I haven’t binged on that yet, and there’s a Game of Thrones episode tonight that promises lots o’ killin’, and I taped [MORE]

Not-So-Random Saturday Hottie Pic!

June 7, 2014 // 0 Comments

I feel good!  So good! Cuz I got YEW!  Yeah, it’s a good day.  I will be writing FULL TIME, at least for a while, starting July 1st!  “A while” shall be legally defined for the terms wheresoever described below as, “until the money runs out” 🙂 So this means a couple of things for Team Vance:  1, “A Great Prince” will be out this summer!  2, “Angelina” will be writing a heteromance novel after all, now that I’ve found some folks who will handle the “everything but writing” part of joining Clone Club with a new pen name (new FB, Twitter, blog, blog tour, etc. etc.). Okay, she may not publish it as Angelina, but whatever.  I’m leaving pen name, title, etc. in the hands of the experts. BUT what this means is, I am free as “Brad” to do whatever the fuck I want.  I don’t have to write to the market, I don’t have to worry about chasing trends – not that I ever did, but [MORE]

Someday My Prince Will Come (in a HOT new novel underway now!)

June 6, 2014 // 5 Comments

Well, so to speak.  I might as well spill the beans on my work-in-progress.  Go on and steal it, copycats!  I’ll still do a better job on it, just like I did with “the football story” that everyone was suddenly writing after I started posting GTC.  🙂 OK so who is this HAWT dude next door to this sentence?  I don’t know who he is in reality, but in a few paragraphs, I’ll tell you who he is to me. So, I was talking a while ago with a friend of mine.  We both have an interest in artificial intelligence, and he forwarded me a story about Netflix and its genre descriptions.  I read the article and looked at the charts, and it was funny to see what the top keywords were in so many searches: Favorite Subject: Marriage and Royalty Favorite Adjective:  Romantic Favorite Location:  Europe So I write him back and joked, “Well, crap, if that’s where the money is, then the next Brad Vance novel should be about two European princes who fall in [MORE]

Random Hot Pic for the Day…

June 4, 2014 // 4 Comments

I know that most of the M/M readers like ’em big and beefy – six foot four and 240 lbs., and that’s not a bad thing sometimes 🙂  But personally, I like ’em leaner, more like um endurance athletes heh.  Soccer players, tennis players, not “beefless” but with more stamina for the long haul.  Big dudes wear themselves out pushing all that weight around.  They get out of breath.  Have to rest.  Unlike guys like the guy in front in this picture…YEAH.  Like that. The Verdict is IN – BookBub for “Given the Circumstances” was a WIN

June 3, 2014 // 4 Comments

So BookBub let me know up front on their pricing page that on a discounted LGBT title, out of their 40,000 subscribers to that list, I could expect between 40 and 910 sales, with 320 being about average.  Well, I sold about 865 copies on Amazon, and another 80 on BN, and another 40 on Apple.  So about…oh shit! Almost 1000 copies! WHOO!  WORLD CHAMPION! THANK YOU!  Now we find out a few important things.  One, will it keep selling now that it’s up to $2.99 (it was $3.99 before but that’s unrealistic for someone like me without that super high profile/fanbase)?  Two, will I get more reviews?  (One new review on the ‘zon so far, and a good one, yay!)  Three, will it boost sales of my other titles?  (So far, a bit, yeah.) Oh, and four, will all my dreams be fulfilled, and will Deadspin finally write it up and will Ellen DeGeneres read it and love it and put me on her show and will Hollywood buy the…okay, okay, right, ONE THOUSAND COPIES in about [MORE]

Awesome! $93 this month to IAVA – 100% of royalties from “A Little Too Broken”

June 1, 2014 // 0 Comments

Way to go, Team Vance!  We got some good sales on “A Little Too Broken” this month, a big bump up from previous months.  As I’d mentioned a week or so ago, I’ve been favoring Wounded Warrior Project with all the donated royalties from ALTB for a while now, as I’ve felt that there was a more immediate impact and dollar value from sending the money to a direct service organization.   This was probably also based on my general “politics is bullshit” outlook, but the whole VA scandal has not only raised the profile of IAVA, and their new watchdog organization, vaoversight.org, but it’s reminded me that *someone* has to be the voice in Washington for the veterans. And you know what?  Let’s do it again.  100% of royalties from June to be split 50/50 between WWP and IAVA. This is an excerpt from the book, written last fall, and I’m really looking forward to the day, if it ever comes, that none of it is true anymore: Jamie [MORE]
