$40 from “A Little Too Broken” to IAVA! $4,820 to vet’s orgs!

February 29, 2016 // 0 Comments

When it’s this low for the month, I just make a single contribution to IAVA. I made $80 on A Little Too Broken in February, assuming as I must that the lousy .0041 per page rate we got in January won’t improve… All the same! $4,820 over 2+ years in print to veterans’ organizations, and counting! I’ve managed to snag a nice amount of editorial work for March, which has taken a lot of pressure off me financially. If I can keep that up, I don’t have to write at a desperate pace to constantly “publish or perish.” I feel like I could have a lavish three months to write On My Honor… and then maybe even leave it with the copy editor in early June when I go on…vacation!!! Imagine only having to publish three novels a year; what a luxurious lifestyle that would be! It’s funny – when I first incarnated as Brad, I wrote fast and furious to make enough money to escape Cubicle City. And then I wrote fast and furious [MORE]

Five stars for “Strength in Numbers” from KathyMacReviews!

February 26, 2016 // 0 Comments

Read the full review here! When I read Would I Lie to You? by Brad Vance, it was my first time reading anything by this author. I absolutely love Jesse and Marc, and I really love the author’s writing style so I was eagerly awaiting book 2, Strength in Numbers. I even held onto it for a few days because I wanted to live in suspense. And, it didn’t disappoint me, at all. One of the many things I love about Brad’s writing is his humor and the humor/banter he instills in his characters. Marc and Jesse are a perfect match, they balance each other, and the humor they have between them is laugh out loud hilarious. I don’t how many times I caught myself with this huge smile across my face as I was reading. Another thing that I love about this series is the author’s capability to relay the story to the reader where it’s easy to comprehend what’s going on… I’m not a math major by any means and if you have already read the first book, you know that the concept is numbers. Thanks to V’s Reads for a great review of “Strength” (and to my FB friends…)

The Quest: STRENGTH IN NUMBERS–Review and Giveaway! Here’s an excerpt: Marc and Jesse are back in action, together, on the trail of a half-billion in Bitcoin. I am NOT a tech-heavy person. I have little interest in the intrigues of hackers etc, but I really enjoyed this National Treasure-type escapade…This story ends with an HEA and the promise for further mayhem. To which I say: sign me up. I like these guys and their kinky games and bright minds. And thank you so much to my FB friends who’ve given me so much support in my Time Of Need 🙂 The writing life can be a solitary thing – too solitary for your health, sometimes. I’m resolved to find some balance in my life and not let this job be the center of [MORE]

FIVE STARS for “Strength” from Queercentric Books and and MM Book Escape!

February 23, 2016 // 2 Comments

Check them out here … and here! From Kathy Mac: One of the many things I love about Brad’s writing is his humor and the humor/banter he instills in his characters. Marc and Jesse are a perfect match, they balance each other, and the humor they have between them is laugh out loud hilarious. I don’t how many times I caught myself with this huge smile across my face as I was reading. Another thing that I love about this series is the author’s capability to relay the story to the reader where it’s easy to comprehend what’s going on. I’m not a math major by any means and if you have already read the first book, you know that the concept is numbers. The author, without dumbing it down, broke it down in layman’s terms making it easy for this reader to follow along and not feel lost in the journey. Probably my most favorite parts of this series, Strength in Numbers especially, are the sex scenes. I know you want to get lost in the sex, feel the emotion and the passion that [MORE]

MY GAY AGENDA for 2016, UPDATED!

February 20, 2016 // 2 Comments

So the blog tour is “off” for two days, and now seems like a good time to update the Gay Agenda for the year. Strength in Numbers is out and about and, while it’s not a best seller, it is putting some $ in my pants. I’m proud of it, I love it, my hard core loves it. I’m not having as much “post pubbing depression” about this one – I’m doing everything to flog it that I can: I timed the blog tour to actually coincide with the 30 Day Cliff this time, I boosted posts at Facebook, I’m running relentless daily book group molestation, I’m trying to get enticing 140 character pull quotes for Twitter, blah blah. I finally even got a mailing list! If it doesn’t sell, hey, it wasn’t because I didn’t run the best push-push-push that I could. And it’s a really good book. “It’s a really good cyberthriller, why didn’t you just publish it as a cyberthriller without all the gayness?” [MORE]

Today’s tour stops: MM Good and Happily Ever Chapter!

February 18, 2016 // 2 Comments

Check out the interview with Marc here, and letters from Marc and Jesse to their former selves here! I’m 1/3 of the way through rerecording A Little Too Broken: The Audiobook. It’s been a learning curve, lemme tell ya. Those clicks I said I was getting when I silenced/deleted in Audacity? THAT’S what the “De-clicker” plugin is for – muffling those. DUH. I was just applying it to the whole file because duh. But…that’s me. I’ve always been self-educated and I almost never ask for help. It’s how I got into technology work, and how I learned to write fiction, and now it’s how I’m doing audiobooks. So I plow through, fuck it up, and then learn how to fix it. I was never good at acquiring skills in a rigid, classroom, open-your-books-to-page-one learning style. It’s been a slow go, for a few other reasons. I can record about 1/2 hour at a time before I get uncomfortable sitting still, and it has to be in the [MORE]

Book Tour stops at Divine Magazine…with a rave review for “Strength in Numbers”!

February 17, 2016 // 2 Comments

Yeah I popped this review into the product page right away! Read the full review, and an interview on my creative process, here: http://divinemagazine.net/strength-in-numbers-brad-vance-blog-tour/ What incredible fun! There is all manner of happenings going on in this cover-to-cover action-packed erotic thriller, which is the sequel to Would I Lie to You… In my many years of reading, I have frequently found that second books in a series are generally not as well-written as the first or the subsequent installations. That is absolutely not the case with Strength in Numbers, which made it a wonderful surprise. This is an intense, draw-you-in-and-keep-you-fully-engaged novel from start to finish… The main and peripheral characters are well thought out, creatively written, and each brings something important to the book. None of them came across as “fluff” or “filler” to me, a fact that I very much appreciated. The end is beautifully written to allow for an HFN that [MORE]

KENPC $ down 30% since July…AND HOW TO BEAT IT!

February 16, 2016 // 0 Comments

Yeah, as some authors put it, we’re the proverbial frog in the pan of cold water, who never notices as the heat gradually rises and slowly cooks you. And yes, peeps have already figured out how to game KENPC 2.0, at least for a few months. July: 0.005779 Aug: 0.0057 Sep: 0.00507 Oct: 0.004809 Nov: 0.0049 Dec: 0.0045 Jan: 0.0041 Amazon dropped the Bezosteroid on 2/1 that they were revising all KU book page counts, to deflate certain creatively-formatted books, and deter 10,000 page bundles. And people are already beating the new system. And you know what? Why not. If Amazon is going to screw us by upending the system every six months or less, I say go for it. If Amazon is going to treat us not like business partners, but like barbarians at their gates, like some enemy to be repelled, then we’re forced to act like it. I feel like an illegal drug chemist, who has to change my formula every few months to keep ahead of new government laws against my product. Want to boost [MORE]
