I know, I know, rage caps. But what are you gonna do?
Here’s the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/A-Little-Too-Broken/dp/B01EQV1IG8/
And the Audible.com link: http://www.audible.com/pd/Fiction/A-Little-Too-Broken-Audiobook/B01EQV1G9M
And again, the Audiobooks.com link: http://www.audiobooks.com/audiobook/a-little-too-broken/263182
And, hey presto! It’s in the iTunes store too! Here’s the browser link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/audiobook/little-too-broken-unabridged/id1108142397?mt=3&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
So, that was fast…six days from submission to Author’s Republic to “go live” on all the biggies.
I gotta say, I’m disappointed in Amazon. Put on your schmancy headphones (Bose QC2 in my case) and take a listen to the sample quality on the Amazon page…and then on the Audiobooks.com page or in the iStore (which for some reason is not the opening of the story, but just a random 1.5 minute extract from the middle of the submitted sample…)
Right? Those are the exact same files. Why does it sound so much better on Audiobooks.com and iTunes than it does on Amazon? Well, what are you gonna do, right?
And let’s talk pricing. I suggested a retail price of $19.95. Not that it mattered. On Amazon, it’s $13.08 (marketing bullshit, it’s “discounted” from $14.95) and on iStore it’s $9.95. So unlike ebooks, you have no control over audiobook pricing. RISE UP WORKERS AND SMASH THE CAPITALISTS! TAKE CONTROL OF THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION!
Well, that’s the bitch of it, right? I have control of the means of production…but what good does it do when you don’t control the means of distribution?
So, unlike an ebook, I can’t compulsiclick the sales page to see every unit moved since the five minutes since the last time I conpulsiclicked, which is a good thing. I can check sales rankings, but those move so rarely (simply hours between refreshes!) that I won’t be able to make myself too crazy watching them. Also, sales ranks are a bugfucker – one minute you’re ranked at 300, then 200, then 600, then 400…
That said! 17% of Given the Circumstances is now recorded! So that one will be on the shelves within six weeks, before my long and at-long-last June vacation… The Big Machine just keeps on chugging…
