$60 to IAVA from “A Little Too Broken”! $4,915 to veterans’ orgs so far!

Yeah, ALTB was pretty much the only book that sold *anything* last month. As far as the audiobook version goes, well, Amazon and iTunes have “virtually colluded” as far as I’m concerned to force the audiobook price down to $9.95. That is, I suggested a MSRP of $19.95, Amazon puts it up for $14.95, iTunes puts it up at $9.95 (on a “books by the yard” formula that prices audiobooks by length, period).

Surprise! Amazon then price matches, just as it does with ebooks, and now it’s $9.95 there, too… Isn’t that the definition of collusion, corporations conspiring against competition? Then again, when I clicked Agree to the TOS, I probably signed away my genome, my spinal fluid, and any organs Amazon might care to harvest on demand.

So as I said before, I’m committed to also giving 50% of the audiobook profits to vets’ orgs…in time. As in, while I’ll keep giving the ebook $ monthly, I am so deep in the fucking financial hole that I need to keep the audiobook $, or, more to the point, give them all to my creditors. I’ll run a tally of what I “owe” from those royalties, which, barring financial ruin, will eventually go to IAVA and other orgs…

But shit, the way I keep getting undercut on pricing, who knows when that will be. I guess I need more Portentous Pauses in my narration to add minutes to the count, and write more like Dorothy Doorstopper to pad the books for length… Or I should take a page from the KU scammers and add some crappy “bonus content” to pump up my minute count… God it’s all such a bullshit game…

Maybe just sell the audiobook version exclusively on your website? Then you’d have complete control over the price and sales statistics.

    • I tried that through my own Shopify store, no go… People are too addicted to that one click experience…
